From enrolling to your grade

  1. Find a course or a program and enroll — or apply, where it asks for one.
  2. Join your classes: walk into the Learning Pavilion at class time, or meet online.
  3. Follow the course on the web campus: lessons, announcements, discussions and messages.
  4. Hand in assignments and tests; your professor grades them against a rubric, with feedback.
  5. Keep track in your gradebook and calendar, on the web or the phone’s UniverseT app in the Grid.

The campus

The Learning Pavilion stands at the head of the park in the Grid: a five-floor glass building with a 200-seat Grand Auditorium, two lecture halls, six classrooms, a Media Lab, study rooms, the Learning Commons and a roof terrace. Next door, UniverseT Residences houses students.

Teaching here

Professors apply, and the UniverseT team reads every application. Approved professors build courses with modules, assignments, rubrics and tests, teach in the pavilion’s rooms or online, and can charge for their courses.

Questions people ask

What is UniverseT?
UniverseT is the university of creativity in the Grid, run by The Multimedia Studio. Approved professors teach real courses and programs — free or paid — with live classes in a 3D campus or online, plus assignments, feedback, grades and a calendar. Anyone can study with a free student account.
Is it free?
A student account is free, and so are some courses. Each course shows its price before you enroll.
How do live classes work?
At class time you walk into your classroom in the Learning Pavilion, in the Grid, from your browser. While a class is on, its room is private to the class: the professor puts the lesson on the room’s screen and talks with you, and attendance is taken from who is in the room. Some courses meet online, and some are self-paced.
Where do I hand in work?
On the web campus: course content, announcements, discussions, messages, assignments with rubrics and feedback, tests, a gradebook and a calendar. Homework also shows as a sheet on the table in your home in the Grid, visible only to you.
Do I need a TMS account?
No. Anyone can study with a UniverseT student account, and in the Grid it stays on campus.
Can I live on campus?
UniverseT students can rent a home in UniverseT Residences, the student tower beside the pavilion — the city’s most affordable homes.

A free student account is all you need.
