Affiliate agreement

Version 2026-10-25, updated October 25, 2026.

1. This agreement

This agreement is between you and The Multimedia Studio (“TMS”, “we”). It sets the rules of the TMS affiliate program. The Terms of Service (/terms) still apply to your account; where they differ, this agreement decides about the affiliate program.

You join as an independent contractor. You aren’t TMS’s employee, agent or partner, you can’t speak for TMS or bind it, and you choose how you spend your time.

2. Who can join

  • You have an approved TMS account in good standing (a creative, a client, an explorer of the Grid, or a UniverseT student or professor). Guests can’t join.
  • You are 18 or older. You show it with a photo ID and a live selfie checked by Stripe Identity.
  • You live in Canada (outside Quebec, until this agreement is available in French), the United States, the United Kingdom, Gibraltar, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein or a country of the European Union, and you have a Stripe payouts account there.
  • One person, one affiliate membership, whatever number of accounts you have.
  • TMS reviews every application and may turn one down.

3. How you earn

You earn from a referred account: a NEW TMS account that signs up through one of your links within 30 days of the click, or that enters your link’s name as a referral code when signing up. It stays yours for 12 months from the day TMS approves that account. Accounts that existed before can’t be referred.

* Referred accounts that sign up in the program’s first 90 days earn the launch rate for their full 12 months.

“What TMS keeps” is the payment less sales tax, the card processing fee, refunds and chargebacks, and whatever goes on to someone else (a creative, a screen renter, a professor, a hall renter, a seller — and a piece’s postage, which is the renter’s). When a payment shares a fee between two affiliates, together they never get more than half of what TMS kept on it.

What never earns

  • Brand stores in the Grid (their purchases happen on the brand’s own site)
  • Griddles food orders (paid to the restaurant)
  • Store products bought through a renter’s own Square or website
  • Free passes, gifts, welcome offers and anything else nobody paid for
  • Sales tax, card fees and refunded or disputed payments
  • Your own purchases, and accounts that are yours

One level only: you never earn on another affiliate’s commissions, and nobody earns on yours.

4. When and how you’re paid

  • A commission is pending for 30 days after the payment, then approved.
  • Approved commissions are paid once a month to your Stripe payouts account, when you’re owed at least US$50.00. Smaller amounts roll over.
  • Commissions are counted in US dollars. TMS pays them in Canadian dollars at the day’s exchange rate, and Stripe converts them to your account’s currency at its own rate.
  • If a payment is refunded or disputed, its commission is cancelled; if that happens after you were paid, it comes off your next payouts.
  • Our records decide what counts. If you think something is missing, tell us within 60 days.

Your taxes are yours to report and pay, wherever you live. If you live in Canada and are registered for GST/HST, give us your number and we add the tax to your commissions. Canadian affiliates paid more than $500 in a year may be asked for a Social Insurance Number or business number for a T4A slip.

5. How you may promote TMS

  • Say you earn a commission every time you share a link, clearly and right beside it — for example “I earn a commission if you sign up through my link.” In a video, say it out loud and show it on screen.
  • Never send emails, texts or messages to people who didn’t ask for them (Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation, the US CAN-SPAM Act, and the UK’s and Europe’s e-privacy rules). Share with your own audience, in your own posts and pages.
  • On a website, mark links rel="sponsored".
  • Tell the truth about TMS, its prices and what it offers. Never promise anyone money or results.
  • Never post fake reviews, or reviews you don’t say you’re paid for.
  • Don’t present yourself as TMS, its staff or an official partner, and don’t bid on TMS’s names in search ads.
  • Don’t pay or reward people for signing up, and don’t make accounts, clicks or sign-ups that aren’t real (no bots, no hidden links, no forcing referrals).
  • Don’t aim your promotion at children, or put links next to hateful, adult or illegal content.
  • Use TMS’s logos and pictures only from the share kit on your Earn page.

6. Your links

You name your links. Names must be clean and your own: nothing obscene or hateful, nothing that sounds official, and no partner brand’s name. TMS may take any link down. A link you take down keeps working for 90 days; a name is never given to anyone else.

7. Changes and ending

We may change this agreement. We’ll email you at least 30 days before any change that lowers what you earn; a change never applies to commissions already earned.

You can leave at any time from your Earn page; we can end your membership at any time. Approved commissions are then paid as usual — unless your membership ends because you broke this agreement, in which case commissions not yet paid are cancelled and you can’t join again.

8. Privacy

Stripe checks your ID; TMS keeps only the result (verified, 18 or older) and a coded fingerprint of your name and date of birth so one person can’t join twice — never the document or your date of birth. People you refer see your name as the person who invited them. You see how many referred accounts you have and what they earned you — never who they are. The Privacy Policy (/privacy) explains the rest.

9. Law and contact

The laws of Ontario and of Canada apply. Nothing in this agreement takes away a right you have by law.
