The phone in your pocket in the Grid
Everyone who walks into the Grid carries a phone. Message and call your connections, keep your calendar, hail a taxi, play music and ask Clover the way — all in your browser, on a computer or a phone.
Only your connections can reach you, and your messages are end-to-end encrypted. Free with an account.

Messages
Chat one to one, or in groups of up to 50, with the people you’re connected to. Messages are end-to-end encrypted: only the people in the chat can read them — not TMS, and not anyone else.
- Ticks — sent, delivered and read — turn read receipts off, and you stop seeing other people’s too.
- Typing and last seen — show when you were last online to your connections, your favourites or nobody, and hide that you’re typing.
- Replies, reactions and more — reply to a message, react to it, forward it, star it or pin it; edit for 15 minutes, delete for everyone for 2 days.
- Photos, videos, documents and voice notes — photos keep their whole picture, never cropped.
- Where you are — share your spot in the Grid; your friend taps Take me there.
- Disappearing messages — after 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days.
- Search — your chats are searched on your own device.
Privacy that stays yours
- Connections only — nobody else can message or call you.
- Mute or block anyone — even a connection. They aren’t told.
- Notifications without words — a notification says who wrote, never what they wrote.
- Your choices — who sees when you were last online, who can call you and who can add you to groups.
- A security code — compare it with a friend to check that your chat is locked to the two of you.
- Your keys, your devices — link a new device from one you already use, or with a Messages passphrase that is never sent to us. Forget the passphrase and lose your devices, and old messages can’t be opened — by anyone.
The Phone
Call your connections, voice or video, from the Phone app or from a chat. A call rings on any TMS page you have open, not only in the Grid.
- A Grid number — yours is on your City ID; dial one on the keypad. It still rings only for your connections.
- Recents, favourites and contacts — every call, missed ones marked; clear any of them.
- Voicemail — up to 2 minutes, sealed so only you can play it, kept for 90 days.
- On a call — mute, hold, turn your camera on, take a second call, or add people up to 6.
- Do not disturb — calls don’t ring, they’re kept as missed — but your favourites still ring, and so does someone who calls twice within 3 minutes.
- Protect my IP — on by default: your calls are relayed, so the person you call never sees your IP address.
Your calendar
The Calendar app keeps your meetings: answer an invitation, see who’s coming and join from your phone. Office teams see their office’s calendar in the Office app. More about video meetings — up to 4 screens shared at once.
Who you can reach
- Creatives — who follow each other.
- Clients and creatives — who have worked together on a brief.
- Anyone else — once they accept your Connect request — search by username or Grid number.
The other apps

- UniverseT — courses, and today’s classes once you’re enrolled.

Questions people ask
- Are messages in the Grid end-to-end encrypted?
- Yes. Messages are end-to-end encrypted: they are locked on your device and can only be opened on the devices of the people in the chat. TMS can’t read them, and a notification says who wrote, never what.
- Can anyone message me?
- No. Only your connections can message or call you. You can mute or block anyone, even a connection, and they aren’t told.
- Who are my connections?
- Creatives who follow each other, a client and the creatives they’ve worked with on a brief, and anyone whose Connect request you accept — find people by their username or Grid number.
- What is a Grid number?
- A seven-digit number on your City ID. Dial one on the Phone app’s keypad to call that person — it rings only for your connections, so a stranger who has your number still can’t reach you.
- Can I make video calls?
- Yes. Turn your camera on during any call, and add people up to 6 on one call.
- Do I need to download an app?
- No. The phone is part of the Grid, in your browser on a computer or a phone. Creatives and clients also find Messages in their TMS workspace, outside the Grid.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Messages, calls and the calendar come with a free account. Walking into the Grid needs no account at all.
